Jason Jones was riding down the street when he bumped into a man.
“Excuse me,” he said to the man. “But have you seen anything strange around here? I mean, I’m Jason Jones, the main newspaper reporter around here. I’m also kind of a detective because of it but I’m trying to find out the answer to why no one is taking naps anymore, like they want to but they just can’t.”
“If that is the case, then you came to the right person,” said the man. “My name is Alex Windlewood but everyone calls me the news, because I always know what is happening around here.”
“Great!” said Jason. “Fill me in with all you know.”
As Alex started talking, Jason started writing and this is what he said.
“His name is the Nefarious NapStealer. He is who created what people call fairy tales, but some are true. He started out as a great kid and every day his grandfather took him to the park and then they went fishing, but when he was 19 his grandfather moved away. From then on he turned evil. He said life was not worth living without his Grandpa. He said he would be the Nefarious NapStealer and he would take everyone’s nap and take them for himself so he could sleep all the time and didn’t have to live his horrible life. That day he turned into the Nefarious NapStealer… Wa Ha Ha!!!”
“Sorry, I just couldn’t help doing that,” said Alex. “Anyway, the first nap he stole was the giant’s. He created Jack and the Beanstalk. The giant was always sleeping, so he was the old man that gave Jack the beans so he would wake up the giant.”
“The second nap he stole was Humpty Dumpty‘s. The real poem went like this, ‘Humpty Dumpty slept on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great shove…’ but that doesn’t rhyme, so they changed it.”
“The third nap he stole was the princess and the pea. He put the pea under the princess’ mattress and took her nap.”
“After that, he was even more nefarious than ever. Those were his first three naps, but after that, he took a ton more. He is still stealing them. There is one thing that I don’t get, he married the lady who pricked Sleeping Beauty‘s finger and put her to sleep!”
