A recent study published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) entitled Longitudinal analysis of sleep in relation to BMI and body fat in children: the FLAME study determined that if Nefarious NapStealers prevent kids from obtaining their recommended daily amount of sleep, those kids are at significant risk for becoming overweight.

The objectives of the study were to find out whether decreased sleep modifies the body in some way in young children that causes a propensity for obesity. Therefore, the researchers designed a Longitudinal study that included ongoing annual measurements on 244 children ages 3 to 7 from a birth cohort in Dunedin, New Zealand.

According to USA Today,  a review of airline schedules for May 2011 revealed that an average of 2,600 flights a day are scheduled at times that make it hard for pilots to obtain adequate sleep. These nefarious scheduling issues can cause reduced alertness, napstealers or, in the very worst cases, falling asleep on the clock.

The airline schedules proven to create a nefarious risk of napstealing fatigue departures that occur early in the morning, flights during the night or arrivals that occur after midnight. Working at these times interrupts the body’s circadian rhythm and the brain’s deep-seated sleep requirements, according to experts in the field.

Sleeping

According to a study at Harvard University in 2006,  because of the increase in people sleeping less than six hours per night, 75% of Americans experience sleep problems, if not full-blown nefarious . Normally, one shouldn’t be extremely worried about intermittent insomnia, which can occur for many various environmental factors. The real napstealer has to be chronic sleep loss, which causes all kinds of  health problems like weight gain, hypertension, and a weakened immune system. Therefore, people who don’t get enough sleep are not only sleepy, but can be fat, sick and irritable, as well.

Scientists have proposed the theory that a lack of sleep affects the entire brain which causes episodes, such as micro-sleeps during the day, such as those times you space out while sitting at your desk or driving. The new research indicates, however, that actually begins on the cellular level.

The study also shows that taking a nap before studying or learning something important can greatly increase your memorization and understanding of the subject you are trying to learn. So make sure to avoid those heinous napstealers!

The Nefarious Mysteries of Naps

Nefarious NapStealers and REM Sleep

Obstructive sleep apnea

Scientists and physicians have been perplexed by the atrocious mysteries of sleep for ages. People spend about 30% of their lives sleeping, but Science still cannot definitively determine the precise role of rest in human neurophysiology. Scientists have determined that there are states of different rest that a person cycles through throughout the night—REM (rapid eye movement) and non-REM sleep. Non-REM sleep includes different types of sleep, from light to very deep sleep. Usually, dreaming does not happen during non-REM sleep, with the exception of nefarious nightmares and other napstealers, which most likely occur during the deepest stages of non-REM sleep. During non-REM sleep, most physical processes are greatly reduced. Therefore, the though is that during this time the brain and body are resetting themselves. However, during REM sleep the brain is very active.
