The Nefarious Mysteries of Naps

Obstructive sleep apnea

{Researchers|Scientists} and {physicians|doctors} have been perplexed by the {nefarious|atrocious|horrible|dreadful} mysteries of sleep for ages. People spend {about|approximately} 30% of their lives sleeping, but Science still cannot definitively determine the precise role of {rest|sleep} in human neurophysiology. Scientists have determined that there are {phases|states} of {varying|different} {rest|sleep} that a person cycles through throughout the night—REM (rapid eye movement) and non-REM sleep. Non-REM sleep includes different types of sleep, from light to very deep sleep. {Usually|Generally}, dreaming does not {happen|occur} during non-REM sleep, with the exception of nefarious nightmares and other napstealers, which {most likely|probably} {occur|happen} during the deepest stages of non-REM sleep. {During|In} non-REM sleep, most physical processes are greatly reduced. Therefore, the though is that during this time the brain and body are resetting themselves. However, during REM sleep the brain is very active.

REM sleep is a very light sleep state that alternates with Non-REM sleep throughout the night. REM sleep is when vivid dreaming {happens|occurs}, the eyes move rapidly back and forth and the body restricts muscle movement to avoid having the body act out what is going on in the dream. {Babies|Infants} spend more than {fifty|50}{%| percent} of their sleep in REM and that number {goes down|decreases} through adulthood to about {twenty-five|25}{%| percent} REM sleep during the night, which has caused some to {theorize|postulate} that dreaming during REM sleep is {vital|important} for cognitive learning and {locking in|integrating} new thoughts and memories.

There are several nefarious napstealers that cause people to wake up {throughout the|frequently at} night. The most common and the most important is sleep apnea, which is an obstruction of the airway that causes a person to stop breathing and briefly wake up throughout the night. As nefarious as it is, this is a treatable napstealer, but also a potentially serious illness that should be considered by a physician.

    1. It's a good point – my original heading for the first section was survey says . just a 2 person survey – However, because this is people actually reading a book and then comparing.
It might seem ridiculous to be happy that people are now actually reading a book before making claims on what is a better eReader – However, a big step forward.

Would tend to think the Sleep Disorder are basing their words on a lot of experience and knowledge – However, it would be nice to see some proper peer-reviewed papers to back it up.

Circadian integration of sleep-wake and feeding requires NPY receptor-expressing neurons in the mediobasal hypothalamus. Am J Physiol Regul Integr Comp Physiol. 2011 Nov;301(5):R1569-83 Authors: Wiater MF, Mukherjee S, Li AJ, Dinh TT, Rooney EM, Simasko SM, Ritter S Abstract Sleep and feeding rhythms are highly coordinated across the circadian cycle, but the brain sites responsible for this coordination are unknown. We examined the role of neuropeptide Y (NPY) receptor-expressing neurons in the mediobasal hypothalamus (MBH) in this process by injecting the targeted toxin, NPY-saporin (NPY-SAP), into the arcuate nucleus (Arc). NPY-SAP-lesioned rats were initially hyperphagic, became obese, exhibited sustained disruption of circadian feeding patterns, and had abnormal circadian distribution of sleep-wake patterns. Total amounts of rapid eye movement sleep (REMS) and non-REMS (NREMS) were not altered by NPY-SAP lesions, but a peak amount of REMS was permanently displaced to the dark…

Not too long ago, an investigation was made into how annoying snoring could actually be. Considering the variations of snoring and the different perceptions that people have on how annoying it actually is, a measurement into its annoyance could prove to be very difficult. Snoring, which can be prevented by using a snoring mouthpiece, can be caused by a number of throat, nasal and palate issues, and in some cases sleep apnea is the underlying issue.

    19. Our eyes swivel restlessly in their sockets during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, an aptly named period of intense dreaming that makes up 20 to 25 percent of total sleep time. Whether this fidgeting is random or serves a function has never been clear, but a new study suggests that our eyes shift their gaze to fixate on the imagined people, places and actions in our sleep dreamscape. In other words, the movements of dreaming eyes mimic those of waking eyes. [More]

In his words: “I estimate most of CPAP users, and most of sufferers of obstructive sleep apnea, can implement this method, solve their problem without CPAP, and gain good sleep”. About his English: he did not claim that English is his native language, or even his main language. So what is the problem with it, and why it leads you to fear for scam? Also, if he is a pretender, I expected him to pretend as a sleep doctor or a researcher, but he did not pretend as such.

In addition, sleep-related breathing disorder, restless legs syndrome (RLS) and rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD) can also lead to impaired sleep.
